Horses have been a part of my daily life for 40 years. I grew up riding on the Hunter/Jumper Circuit in Vt and in New England. I then rode for my IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) team at Alfred University and went to Nationals in 2004 in Atlanta, GA. After college I worked at a small barn in Virginia teaching hunt seat and jumper lessons. I then moved on to teach in the PE department at Cornell University while campaigning horses in the jumper ring on the circuit, starting green OTTB’s, and doing lots….and lots, of chores. After Cornell, I moved to a small farm in Oregon when daily life was handling newborn fillies and colts while campaigning client and personal horses.

I found my place here at Eddy Farm on a very cold -6° January day in 2010. I knew this farm was about the knitty gritty and would give the opportunity to meld and develop all of my knowledge into a program that encompassed care, compassion, boundaries, and listening.

I believe that through the care, compassion, boundaries, and listening, we give horses in and out of the tack translates into how we interact with others in daily life.

We  learn to give our hearts and mind when our focus is present and “we leave it at the barn door.” We learn to listen to a different language.

We learn to listen when our horse and body are talking, we follow when someone is capable of taking the lead. We learn to take the lead and set boundaries when necessary. Horses are incredible at helping humans build confidence, gain trust, and they will forever humble us. Horses do all of this without speaking a word. They’re amazing teachers and it’s my pleasure to share them with you. In and out of the show ring, horses have a lot to offer.
