Volunteer Opportunities at The Eddy Farm School

Why volunteer at the Eddy Farm School for Horse and Rider? - To help a historic farm with deep community roots - To help make a difference with wonderful horses - To connect with others who share a passion for riding - To expand your knowledge of horses, horse care and farm management - To enhance your skills or build your resume - To earn community service hours - To share your love of animals, your knowledge and your unique talents.

What can you do to help?

Volunteering at Eddy Farm Schooling Events: We have shows scheduled for the 2009 season on June 21st, July 19th, August 23rd, and September 20th. Volunteers are needed to time events, to act as scribes, to record pulse and respiration rates, to record and calculate scores and results, to act as gate stewards, to coordinate trophies and ribbons, to pick up rails and make minor course adjustments, and more!

Gardening: We maintain our own cross-country course, an orchard, and are planning a garden. Green thumbs wanted!

Painting: Help keep our jumps and buildings looking fresh and new!

Historic Preservation: The Eddy Farm is in the process of going through historical records and documents, both at the farm and at the Middlebury clerk’s office. The farm has long been a part of the Middlebury community and we are in the process of organizing its history in a way that can be shared with visitors. We invite history buffs or Vermont residents with memories of the farm to contribute or share your stories.

Any other special skills you would like to contribute!
